Permalink Reply by Scott on January 28, 2013 at 10:57pm I was actually most disturbed to discover as a result of the dating announcement that Jeff Gluck had been hired by USA Today. So far that move doesn't seem to have raised his journalistic standards. Instead his childishness may be rubbing off on USA Today veteran Nate Ryan because holy cow was that an overreaction.

Overreactions? Nate Ryan, come on down.........
Permalink Reply by Damon on January 28, 2013 at 11:15pm Here's the thing, they keep throwing out these hypotheticals of what could happen, yet that's just it, they're hypotheticals and fantasy, not reality. If something happens, then talk about it, but until then just shut up and let the thing evolve.
Also, referring to Nate's article, he says that the Danica/Ricky relationship will overshadow Nascar.........sure, if the media continues to talk about it above everything else going on in Nascar like they did at the Rolex this weekend asking people about it. That's why Smoke would get upset, not at Danica, but at the tabloid journalists who care about this stuff and carry on with it like it's a life changing event, it's not.

Permalink Reply by Becky on January 28, 2013 at 11:38pm Personally, I can't believe that Jeff Gluck got hired by USA Today... Really disappointing and agreed that Nate Ryan seems to stoop to his level with his rant/concerns about Danica/Ricky relationship.
Agreed with all of your thoughts Damon... The thing that got me was these are some of the same journalist who just two years ago were saying how great it was that Brad Keselowski pushed his brother Brian in to the Daytona 500. It wasn't how dare two brothers (on separate teams) work together...no it was how heart warming and special. Also, they are always positive when they talk about Kyle & Kurt working together and they both drive for different teams and manufacturers.

Permalink Reply by Damon on January 28, 2013 at 11:56pm Danica's proven in her brief career at Daytona that she doesn't care who pushes her to the front or who she has to push to the front, she just wants to get to the front and stay there.
Permalink Reply by David Williams on January 29, 2013 at 2:09am It would be in the interest of everyone if Smoke pushed her to the front, all the way to the finish line. If he could push her to a win, or even somewhere close to a win, that would benefit him as well as Danica, it would benefit his team, and it would benefit NASCAR.

Permalink Reply by Donna Schwartz on January 29, 2013 at 7:40pm Hopefully all this will go away once they have races to comment on. It's really just a pitiful attempt to fill in when there's very little news. Just hanging in there until the season starts.

Permalink Reply by David Williams on January 31, 2013 at 8:41pm This may be the best interview with Danica I’ve ever seen. Massaro seems genuinely to appreciate her. I like the way he asked broad, general questions and then let her run with the answer without trying to shape it in any way. As a result, she seemed to give us a more thorough psychological portrait of herself than I’m used to getting. To my mind, there is something very charming about Massaro encountering this pretty little girl at a Champ car test at Sebring back in 2003 and learning with surprise that she was herself a race car driver. What it must have been like for him to watch that pretty little unknown grow into an athlete of worldwide celebrity on a level with someone like Tiger Woods. I’m left with a sense that this is a woman who has both feet on the ground, who knows very well who she is, and who is very capable of dealing successfully with whatever life throws at her. I’m happy to be one of those fans she can count on to have unwavering faith in her no matter what.
