Permalink Reply by David Williams on February 14, 2013 at 10:56pm About Daytona, Ricky says, "The track is getting a little older so the grip level is going down and the down force on the car isn’t very much. The cars are dancing around a lot..." That makes me nervous, since it goes against Danica's strengths. But did you notice her "y'all" in her interview? The gal's going Southern.

The frustrating thing about these transcripts is that they don't have the names of the people asking the questions because I'd like to know who some of them were, but here are the transcripts for Danica and Ricky from today.
Permalink Reply by Becky on February 16, 2013 at 9:55am Just caught up watching the ESPN NASCAR Now special from Media Day... I thought both Danica and Ricky had really good interviews. I could only find this bad quality video of Danica's interview on youtube but thought you might like to see it if you missed it... (Haven't found one of Ricky's yet.)

Permalink Reply by David Williams on February 19, 2013 at 2:03pm Danica has taken over the media airwaves and word-venues and is driving her haters crazy (or crazier than they already are). This is, in my experience, the highest point of this country's Danica-awareness in her entire history of racing. (This morning I spoke about her on the phone to my aging sister, who was herself excited about the 500 pole, she who has never paid any attention to auto racing before.) Danicamania has gone big-time. For the moment, anyway. But it's good to bathe in it now. For one thing, it re-establishes her as the premier star of all of Go-Daddy (has anyone seen James Hinchcliffe in any of their advertising lately? after all, he did "win" their impramatur after losing their foolish competition with Danica), something that ensures her future in racing. When his fuel strategy made it possible for her as a rookie to take the lead in the 2005 Indy 500 (after being passed the first time by Dan Wheldon, she emphasized the point by doing it again, passing him back and taking the lead on her own), Bobby Rahal said to her, over the radio, "This may work out." She responded with, "Everybody say a prayer." Maybe we should all join in that effort now, for this event, the 2013 Daytona 500.

Permalink Reply by David Williams on February 21, 2013 at 11:49pm Nice use of the word and the concept of "fast." It took something like the Daytona 500 pole to wake them up, but I'm not complaining.
