OK Reggie ,

First off I consider myself a amateur fan and you guys " professional " fans , so please bear with me . I expected a backlash from any traditional race fans concerning any altercations with the traditional May date. I certainly wouldn't want to change that , start later , finish later was my mindset . You make some very good points and if you feel that might " kill the series " I have to honor your opinion and obvious superior knowledge in these matters .To me If a rookie can't get it together in a month , maybe he or she should not be out there , but what do I know?

My mind has always been " outside the box " , I was just thinking out loud .

Interesting enough I just got off the Racer web site and read a article by Ron Capps about the new " 4-wide " drag racing at Zmax dragway at the end of this month . Now that IS outside the box , certainly wouldn't want the IRL thinking like that.

It's all good to me , and I really like TK to bring it home in Brazil ( and of course for Danica to do well ). I appreciate your tolerance of me , I'm just listening , learning and having fun !

No, definitely don't want to start the season with the Indy 500. The drivers, especially the rookies, need to get a couple of races under their belt before tackling Indy. As far as starting the season in a foreign country, I think it's a great thing for the series. It gives the domestic fans a taste of the action and makes them even more excited about attending races held here in the US. It also helps expand the international fan base leading into the Indianapolis 500, especially with all the Brazilian drivers in the series, it's going to lead to a great deal of those fans following the rest of the season, who may not have paid attention otherwise. Not to mention the fact that the league is getting a HUGE sanctioning fee from the event organizers, higher than any race that is currently on the schedule. They are getting F1 type money for this race, something the league and teams definitely need. I don't think I can find one negative thing to say about starting the season in Brazil. Also, back to my initial statement, never, NEVER, should there ever be any consideration whatsoever into opening the season with the Indianapolis 500, number one, you can't move it from Memorial Day weekend, that's sac-relig! Even if you thought about leaving on that date, it's still too late to open the season regardless. Opening the season at Indy would do way more harm than good, possibly even kill the series.

Can't argue with that. Having the season start in a foreign country also doesn't seem like the smartest idea either . I know weather is a big factor , but how great would it be to start the season with the Indy 500 and that whole month long buildup ? Works pretty good for those " other guys "

What happens at these first four races is no indicator of what will happen once they get on ovals though and while it's nice that the season is finally starting, I'm already looking ahead to Kansas.

Looks like they are one hour ahead of the east coast, so that should be four hours ahead of you in the state Washington

Where is the practice/qualifying schedule available. I have scoured the new indycar.com site and cannot find any info. Am I simply missing it ?

If you have never witnessed the month of may in Indy. You'll see this year that ittakes more than a month to "get it.". Many veterans still have issues with that track. That's the challenge that makes Indy so special

Indycar.com finally has the race info and schedule up on their website. Tom Anderson is Danica's strategist. Does anyone know anything about him? Experience?

No Reggie I have not, and thank you for sharing your wisdom. I will definitely be watching the monthly events this year from a different perspective and a more educated eye! Also speaks very highly about the talent level of Danica , she made it look easy in 05.

He has a lot of experience. He's been crew chief and team manager for many Indy 500 winners in the past. He covered those roles also with Ganassi.

Reply to This

He also was co-owner with Adrian Fernandez for Fernandez Racing.
