Solid day of practice for Danica in preparation for Sunday's qualifying...

Practice 1 --- P3 195.359 mph (lap 2 of 2)

Practice 2 --- P1 196.220 mph (lap 2 of 2)

They only ran 4 laps on the day...one sim qualifying run in practice 1 and one in practice 2.

She'll go out 8th tomorrow for qualifying.

Hope the speed is there tomorrow and she puts it on the front row, if not pole.

Yep, hope she at least locks herself in tomorrow by being in the top 6. Unless something goes wrong or folks were seriously sandbagging today (and why would they when nothing is set by practice anymore) a top 6 spot should be very realistic outcome.

Also, love the talk already of the qualifying speed being only an engineering exercise (which she said as much in her interviews today) and that she has an advantage because of her weight. :)

If she qualifies in the top 6 all the damn haters will be saying "Its only because N-car gave her a bigger plate to make sure she makes the race."

My biggest beef with Newton's story and the rest of the media's coverage about Danica, is that they are making this whole Danica-Ricky story out to be their fault (Danica and Ricky) and that they'd rather talk about their relationship than their racing, which isn't the case, the media (and the drivers to some degree) are the ones who seem to be stuck on it more than anybody else.

I saw Jim Utter and Jenna Fryer both make reference to Danica actually getting to talk racing for a change, that was same tone in Bob Pockrass' article too, yet in reality, if the media focused on racing and asked her questions in her media day about that and not Ricky, she'd talk about racing and not Ricky.

Here we go again with the weight thing! If you look at it from the opposite direction, having LESS weight gives her less downward force, which in some situations would be a disadvantage. :-)

Unless NASCAR changed the rules off season, the cars all weigh the same or within ounces of each other. Danica must add weight to her car to compensate. Smoke must weigh 2X what Danica weighs :-)
