Permalink Reply by DanicaFans on November 14, 2012 at 10:46pm If Danica finishes 12th or better in the points standings, she will break a 63 year old record. The current record is 13th, set by Sara Christian in 1949.
Permalink Reply by Damon on November 15, 2012 at 9:09am Interesting fact about that 1949 season is that none of the top 13 in points ran more than six races in the season and five drivers finished of Sara Christian running fewer races than she did.
As the standings are now, Danica will finish no worse than 11th in points because Mike Wallace is too far back in 12th to catch up even if Danica sat out this weekend, so the record is now hers. Just a matter of does she finish 9th (10 points behind Brian Scott), 10th or 11th (10 in front of Joe Nemechek).

Permalink Reply by Damon on November 16, 2012 at 8:00pm Should be an interesting race despite ESPN's attempt to ruin it for me with their constant blathering on about the championship and how Ricky has lost 21 points to the race winner twice this year.
Permalink Reply by Becky on November 16, 2012 at 10:05pm True, but I will give them a little credit that their Nationwide practice coverage was a little better than Sprint Cup coverage... They actually showed cars besides the 2 and 6...of course the 6 helped that out by quitting practice early. During the Sprint Cup practice they thought it was better to show the 2 guys watching the practice monitors in the garage rather than cars on the track... Did any cars other than the 2 and 48 actually practice? I'm not sure because I don't remember seeing any on the track (except when they were showing the 2 or 48). :)

Permalink Reply by Damon on November 17, 2012 at 9:23am They intereviewed Smoke, Carl and Mark Martin, so I guess that was something, but yeah......I realize the championship IS the top story this weekend, however there are 41 other cars out there.

Permalink Reply by PhilipJames on November 17, 2012 at 6:18pm Okay, that last restart is why I hate watching RaceBuddy. Danica was passed by at least 5 cars before she even got to the first corner.
First project in off season: Teach Danica how to at least hold her spot or only lose a little at restarts.
Why she is running in the middle when everyone else is running either on the bottom or the top is beyond me. It is like waving a big sign saying pass me.
If that is the line she spent all practice working on, it is a crappy line. Everyone passes her on the top. So, why isn't she dialing in the car to run on the top?
Considering it is last race of the year, I was hoping for a lot better but this one is a dud. A big BIG dud. She should be running similar times to the top 10 and she is running 15 - 20 which means they never figured out the right line to run in practice and now she is stuck with it and it does not work. Maybe someone should have sat her down and explained to her before practice that you have to run the top here or you lose momentum... letting her find her own line when what she likes does not work is not a smart move.
Anyway, its a shame considering how well she has been running recently.
There, I vented. Just mad she is not doing better.... don't go after me. Had to get it out.
Permalink Reply by PhilipJames on November 17, 2012 at 6:40pm Finally. They got the car set up to run on the top and she is making time. LOL... they drive me nuts. Can anyone tell me why it takes so long for them to get car dialed to do that? My nerves can't take this all the time. And I don't want to start yelling at the screen.. you know what I mean. Go Danica.
