Permalink Reply by Scott on June 26, 2012 at 6:45pm Danica said a couple of weeks ago that racing for points didn't matter anymore. That's the right mindset, but in looking at the Nationwide standings I noticed something intriguing that could serve as something of a benchmark. Brian Scott sits only 2 points ahead of Danica because of some similar setbacks in the points standings this season.
Scott has had 2 full seasons in the truck series and two full seasons in Nationwide before this season. He's been driving for Joe Gibbs since last season in equipment that's at a minimum just as good as Danica, and more than likely better. Considering that they are essentially tied at this point, Brian Scott might make a decent measuring stick for Danica's cumulative progress over the last 19 races of the season.
Permalink Reply by Jim Huntington on June 26, 2012 at 7:17pm Interesting info, Scott, thanks. If that madman JV hadn't punted Danica, she would be 6 points up on Brain Scott. That is how much JV's bad driving cost her. The important thing is she seems to have opened some eyes around the league and gained respect. I think she is incredibly purposeful and methodical and will squeeze every ounce of experience and learning she can get out of this season to prepare her for the big Cup debut next year.
Permalink Reply by Daniel on June 26, 2012 at 7:21pm It's a great mindset and I think will work well. I'm glad for this quite a lot really... mentality is important and requires upkeep; probably more important than anything really (for everyone involved). Every weekend is a new instance. No baggage. It is difficult but things move quickly at least... even if bad things happen you can learn how to recover etc... Not that I know anything.
Interesting poster...

Permalink Reply by DanicaPowerX on June 29, 2012 at 10:03pm The bad news is that Danica's race didn't really set the world on fire, she finished 12th. The good news is that she's one spot up in the points: 9th....and yes I'm aware that she's not concerned about points anymore.
Permalink Reply by Becky on June 29, 2012 at 10:46pm The race was pretty blahhhh... Austin Dillon just flat out dominated nobody was even close to competing with him tonight.
Danica just didn't have any speed, she could hold her position pretty well once they got running but really didn't have enough car to make any passes. The brightest part of the night was when she finally bumped the 17th out of the way to get past him...he was running several laps down to her but she had a really hard time trying to get around him and just before she bumped him he looked like he was all over track blocking.
Qualified: 11th
Finished: 12th (2 laps down)
Permalink Reply by DanicaPowerX on June 29, 2012 at 11:36pm I didn't get to see the race from her in car view, but it seems to me that they just flat out didn't have the speed. Seems to me that she was too busy fighting the car instead of fighting for positions.
Hey, I just found this article on Micheal Andretti moving to sprint cup, heres the link, its pretty interesting: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1241859-matt-kenseth-to-drive-fo... By the way, Danica did a great job in tonights race, solid run, just couldnt get a handle on the car. kept chasing it... she's improving on driving loose cars, and shes now 9th in points!
Permalink Reply by Lisa Weber on June 30, 2012 at 12:19am i guess its kind of nice that a bad day for her is finishing twelfth. It just seems so unfair that this week and last week technically gave her the same finishing position even though last week she was so dominant. Grrr......but like you guys said, she moved up a spot in the standings.
The best part of her race in my opinion was her interview. She of course congratulated Austin and then said how she envied his first win., And she got this....look. This intense, hungry, wild-eyed look that was just on a different level than I've ever seen from her.
Seriously people, it was just about the coolest thing I've ever seen. When she gets that first win I bet my mom will hear me screaming from two states away.
