Decreased ride height would increase cornering downforce allowing more speed through and off the corners. This is plain CHEATING. Most of the teams cheat because NASCAR doesn't hold them accountable. The NASCAR rules committee makes professional wrestling look legitimate.
Permalink Reply by Becky on June 30, 2012 at 2:13pm RCR is claiming a bolt came loose...Mike Mulhern said he has heard they were a full inch too low, which he said is a ton.
Darrell Waltrip was saying on twitter that the bumpiness of the track could have caused the problem...not sure about that one. :)

Permalink Reply by Damon on June 30, 2012 at 2:37pm Good thoughts, Jody and I believe the same.
I like the fact that somebody asked her yesterday in her press conference about Daytona being a redemption race considering what happened back in February and she said no, it was too early in her Nascar career to think like that. Also, she was was flattered that somebody even felt like she had a great chance to do well and be considered one of the favorites to win.

She wants a win sooooo bad to stop the talk of her not being a good driver & I think that 'look' said it all. I think next week is a great opportunity for her. She is getting better, they just had a bad week.
Permalink Reply by David Williams on June 30, 2012 at 3:16pm I couldn't help thinking during the race that the speed of the #3 car relative to everybody else was so great it seemed suspicious to me even then. If it is true that RCR are known for consistent cheating, it casts a rather dubious light on their very public Christianity: the crew ostentatiously praying as a group, Richard Childress making a point of thanking "the Lord" after the race, both Austin Dillon and his crew chief giving credit "to God." Cheating is not exactly the kind of behavior I was taught as a kid in Sunday School.

Permalink Reply by Damon on June 30, 2012 at 3:21pm That article was written in 2010 going into the Fontana weekend, she ran well that race and was poised to finish in the top 15 until James Buescher wrecked her intentionally.
That next weekend at Charlotte she got some help from Mark Martin, who drove her NW car during a test day at Charlotte leading into the weekend. That was when they had the new generation NW cars and gave the teams an extra day on the schedule at each of the four tracks they raced at with it to gain some information/shake the cars down.
Permalink Reply by Becky on June 30, 2012 at 5:00pm Did anyone else catch how much they are really pushing Sam Hornish Jr.'s running well in Nationwide on the telecast?
It bugged me because of course they fail to acknowledge he has over 100 starts in Sprint Cup. Similar to Elliott Sadler with his experience they should be running well, it shouldn't be considered a great achievement.
Another driver who had a good race last night was Michael Annett who after 120 races in Nationwide finally scored his first top 5. (Kind of an interesting stat when compared to Danica's starts before she got her first top 5).

Permalink Reply by Damon on July 1, 2012 at 11:09am With David Reutimann's 23rd last night at Kentucky, the 10 car is now 80 points up on 36th in owners points and 2 full races worth of points up on everybody else.
Danica back in the 10 car in 7 races and that wait is too long for me.
Permalink Reply by Jim Huntington on July 1, 2012 at 12:57pm Damon, ya gotta figure that Danica, Smoke and S-H know what they are doing but I'd like to have seen Danica in more Cup races this year, if for no other reason than to get used to running around those guys and to get the feel of driving the Cup car. I know it is very easy to second guess and posit stuff from a chair in front of a computer but I don't see how it could hurt her to have some more seat time in Cup competition this year.
