Permalink Reply by Becky on February 27, 2013 at 10:07am Interesting that the #34 NNS ride from Turner Scott Motorsports is not entered at Phoenix (I expected James Buescher to be in the car at Phoenix)... Guess they won't be running a full-season as originally thought.
What this means for Danica is if she jumps back into that car later this year she'll have to always qualify on time as part of the NNS qualifying provisionals require the car to attempt all the races in addition to being in the top 25 (30?) in points.
Turner/Scott is maxed out now with 3 ft entries in NNS so I never thought the 34 car would ever run every race in NNs, its a "random"car as some anylists have called it and Danica is a random driver for the 34. It may be all about sponsorship also even for Danica as Godaddy has taken Danica into Cup which was their plan all along but still running PT in NNs might not have been in their plans for her? Also since this will be a tough yr for her they may all decide its better to just run in Cup this yr--time will tell? BTW--I wouldnt worry about her qualifying on time in NNS although anything could happen, but not likely as Cup is the bigger issue with qualifying, but with good finishes she should get enough points to be locked in and without DNF's should stay locked in.
Also for those worrying about her 34 car and the inspection, which it passed anyway--good grief, that has nothing to do with the driver--let it go. Why do some here continually harp on things that dont matter regarding Danica the driver? Facts are even when the winning car fails inspection its very rare that Nascar ever takes away the result or the win---just team suspensions, fines or driver points, which Danica even being a random driver and basically has NO points wouldnt matter anyway-just saying.

Permalink Reply by Scott on March 1, 2013 at 5:43pm I'm actually pretty happy with that given how she normally starts out. We'll see how qualifying goes in a little bit, but if she is 30th off the truck a similar run to last fall may be possible.

Permalink Reply by PhilipJames on March 1, 2013 at 7:05pm Geez... now she will have to drive from way in the back. I can't understand why her teams have such a hard time setting up her car for qualifying. She ran way faster in practice. Its almost like they try too hard. How many times have we seen her try to qualify and the car is taking off on her in corners? Not just here. Its weird... and then in the race she has to drive like heck to move up.... if they expect her to run in the top 20s this year, they better figure out this qualifying setup thing of its going to be a really depressing year... as a rookie, trying to drive from 35th or so every race just is not going to cut it.
Permalink Reply by Daniel on March 1, 2013 at 7:11pm A higher line might have helped but would have also scrubbed speed... she can go higher during the race till the first stop maybe.
Permalink Reply by PhilipJames on March 1, 2013 at 7:28pm This is what really pees me off. She now gets stuck in the back in this race because of crappy setup for qualifying and then she is under pressure to stay on lead lap and to have to pass at least 20 cars to get to a reasonable place.
How do you mess up the setup so that Danica runs almost 2 miles per hour slower in qualifying than she did in practice when the track is actually faster during qualifying? I don't care what anyone says... it is unacceptable to set up the car so badly that she is worse in qualifying mode than in practice mode.
And of top of that, after all the hoopla of Daytona, now you are going to see a bunch of "See, I told you she was no good"
I am really peed off. And not at her of course. How do you set up a car so it runs slower in qualifying than practice? She ran 134 in 26.8 seconds versus 132.9 in 27.9 seconds
