A lot of rumors and announcements are starting for 2013... Thought it would be beneficial to have a single post to discuss.
Start with the following:
Sprint Cup:
#20 JGR - Expectation is Matt Kenseth will be driving this car in 2013 with Home Depot as the sponsorship. It is rumored to be announced this next week.
#22 Penske (Shell/Pennzoil) - Top rumored candidates are Joey Logano and Sam Hornish Jr. Penske claims there may be a couple of candidates no one has discussed.
#39 SHR - Ryan Newman is expected to return but ARMY won't be back and they are hunting for additional sponsorship. Newman has also been discussed as a possibility for the #22 Penske ride.
#51 James Finch - Kurt Busch may return if sponsorship can be found...reports also indicate Brian Scott may be trying to get this ride with his family's $$...Finch also has floated the possibility of not running in 2013
#12 Penske - Been discussed Penske could expand to 3 cars with Sam Hornish Jr and his sponsors moving up to Sprint Cup
#14 SHR - Office Depot has not renewed their 22 race commitment for 2013 but hopes to continue in a lesser role (associate sponsor?).
More to follow on Nationwide. Please add any rumors/announcements you have seen.

Permalink Reply by Scott on February 3, 2013 at 12:34am You initial interpretation is correct. Raveview does not offer live video. It gives the option of what watching a 3D rendering of the track.
I actually never really used that option myself. What did I use every Cup race and enjoy is the dashboard, which provides a wealth of information.
1. There is an overhead layout of the track with icons for every car on the track. So you can see instantly see where every car is on the track, and there enough detail that you can tell if a pass is being made on the inside or the outside. You can completely customize which cars show on the overhead layout if 43 cars is to cluttered. And the scanner inside the dashboard is in sync with the overhead layout so the in-car audio matches what you are seeing.
2. The dashboard will display the telemetry for the driver of your choice so you can see when they are on the gas and on the brake. Another section will show you in real time how many seconds between the selected driver in the car ahead and behind.
3. There is a sortable leader board that you can sort by a number of different categories with being able to sort by last lap speed being especially helpful to identify the fastest cars on the track at any given time.
I can understand being disappointed with not having live video. Hopefully the TNT and ESPN portion of the schedule will have Racebuddy again as well as Nationwide. Still I would advise any Danica fan to still purchase Raceview even they are going to be near a computer during most of her Cup races. It provides a really great picture of what is going on in a race. You almost don't even need video. Often I'm so engrossed in Raceview looking at the information and listening to the in-car audio that the TV broadcast just gets paused until there is a caution. You'll have such a better understanding of what Danica is doing in the race.

Permalink Reply by Becky on February 3, 2013 at 1:06pm I'm hoping the reliability of RaceView is improved with NASCAR taking it back in house. It seemed like the races I used it for it would lock up at some point during the race (my disclaimer is I was using a MAC). But I'm giving it a shot again in 2013 hoping for the best. :)
I was disappointed they didn't use at least the on-line leaderboard during the recent tests to see how it was going to work this year. Hopefully, we don't spend SpeedWeeks working through technical glitches with these products. :)

UPDATE: Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates announces that Kyle Larson, the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) Champion will look to run a full-time NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule in 2013. Larson, the 20-year-old driver from Elk Grove, Calif. will attempt to make his series debut behind the wheel of the #32 Clorox Chevy Camaro fielded by Turner Scott Motorsports during Daytona Speedweeks in the DRIVE4COPD 300 NNS race on Feb. 23. The EGR development driver turned heads in NASCAR competition in 2012 when he won the NKNPSE Championship in his first year of driving stock cars. Larson, who is of Japanese-American descent, also claimed the first series championship for one of NASCAR's Drive for Diversity Program drivers.(Earnhardt Ganassi Racing)(2-6-2012)
Permalink Reply by Damon on February 6, 2013 at 12:18pm Looking at the team charts for 2013 on Jayski, they've got four drivers listed for the 33 car at Childress (Ty Dillon, Harvick, Menard and Max Papis) and none listed for the #21, although I assume that would be Tony Stewart's car at Daytona for the February race.
Then at Turner-Scott Motorsports you have the 30, 31 and 32 all taken for the full-season, with only the 38 left and James Buescher is the defending race winner for the February Daytona race and won the Trucks championship for them so it looks like if she does a part-time deal, no February Daytona race.
Permalink Reply by Becky on February 6, 2013 at 1:45pm Piquet Jr in the 30 hasn't been officially confirmed yet... You have to wonder if the hold up with his deal is the part-time deal they are trying to work on with Danica. There was only one report (Moody) that he was going to do the full NNS season with Turner so I wonder if his folks were trying to pressure Turner to get the deal finalized?
I would think any deal Danica's team does will be dependent upon them being able to race Daytona...otherwise, the value of the deal for Danica and her sponsors probably drops drastically (this is also probably the biggest factor in her not driving for RCR because Tony Stewart is already in the 33 for Daytona).

Permalink Reply by Damon on February 6, 2013 at 1:53pm There's two Daytona races though and while she'd love to do the February race, the July race is the one she's actually had more success at the last 2 years.
Permalink Reply by David Williams on February 6, 2013 at 2:04pm Pray to all the gods there are that Danica will get an NNS deal this year. I'm going to be very unhappy if she doesn't get one.
Permalink Reply by Becky on February 6, 2013 at 2:59pm Yeah, but the visibility of the July race is nowhere near as high as the February race so the value to the sponsors would be much less.

Permalink Reply by Becky on February 7, 2013 at 8:50pm Small hopeful sign that the Daytona NNS race may be official is that it is listed (along with practice times) on Danica's web page under schedule for NNS (only race on the NNS schedule at this time). You can click on the Nationwide link under the Next Race section to see the practice times.
The issue is its close to the season starting & lots of deals are coming together sponsor-wise and maybe some they didnt expect. like the Larson deal FT that Turner just announced as a team will always rather have FT drivers then PT drivers. Piquet Jr hasnt been confirmed really but probably will be, and Buescher wont be runing FT so the possiblility is she shares rides with Buescher and thats funny because they dont like each other. Remember Allgaier isnt with them anymore so things should be fine but hope they give her the road course races as she is good at them in NNS but then they said earlier she wants to run her toughest tracks and thats short tracks where she needs more experience?
The main focus is Cup as it isnt going to be easy as i said and a crash in qualifying and she wont be racing to even earn points so hope that doesnt happen like last yr at Daytona which was a nightmare in Cup and NNS with crashes. NNS is cut back to 40 cars this yr so will be somewhat tougher to qualify as well if she doesnt have points but it is NNS so shouldnt really be a problem there? BTW did you see where Nascar is taking away $4000 from finishing 39th to 43 place in the Cup series to deter S&P drivers--I love it as i hate S&P drivers as they serve no real purpose other then making the field look bigger when it really isnt after a few laps--good for Nascar but needs to be more?
Also--anyone nothice Danica now has over 700,000 twitter followers most of any Nascar or certainly Indycar driver, as they increase every day by hundreds

Danica Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet SS will run a full- time schedule in t [More]

Nothing makes the days go by faster than the anticipation for some fast-paced NASCAR actio [More]
