I know this isn't about racing, but Alex Morgan is, like Danica, a true hero to thousands, if not millions, of little girls across the country who look up to them as examples of what can be done if they work hard to follow their dreams.

"Dream big, because dreams do happen." - Alex Morgan

"You have to dream. You have to think it can happen, or it's never going to." - Danica Patrick

Alex Morgan finished 2012 as the new face of the U.S. Women's National Team. After being a "super sub" for her first year on the team, she started her first game in the CONCACAF finals against Canada in January, 2012. This is what she accomplished in this past year:

Led the team with 28 goals in 31 matches, becoming the youngest player ever to score 20 goals in one year, and only the third to score more than 25. Her goal total was more than all opposing teams combined.

Led the team with 21 assists, placing her second all time for a single year. Mia Hamm had 22 in 2004.

Joined Mia Hamm as the only other woman in the rare air of the 20/20 club (goals and assists).

Named the Women's Sports Foundation's Sportswoman of the Year.

Named by U.S. Soccer as Female Athlete of the Year.

Named by FIFA (the world soccer governing body) as the third best women's soccer player in the world, as voted by coaches, team captains and media representatives from 87 countries.

Won an Olympic gold medal in London.

All this, and she's just 23 years old.

I haven't commented in some time here but have been paying attention; busy.

Alex is someone to keep an eye on.  I can't wait to see what she does in the future and it's impact on future US soccer, hopefully, both male and female.  She is definitely a positive role model, as is Danica, for young girls and women.  No reason any young person can't gain from there intensity on and off the track/field and what it took to get there. Danica and Alex have been great at letting young people know to follow their dreams, as athletes and/or whatever their dreams might be.

Successful people in business need to get this same word out there to our young people, as well. Unfortunitely, unlike sports, they don't get the same media attention to have the same opportunity when they could make the biggest impact, as young adults.  They are still trying, in most cases, to make a career for themselves through scholastic endeavors when they still have that age link to those they can most influence. So I guess, otherwise, it's still up to us mostly under appreciated parents and educators to get out there every day to inspire and to expose our young people to their opportunities. Don't stop now!

I can hardly wait for the drop of the checkered! Go girl!
