Motegi - Another Twisty

Just read the race at Motegi is on, but will be run as a road course vice the oval. I'm sure Danica is disappointed, another of her great tracks down the tubes and replaced by a boring road course. Jeez. I personally hope she goes to NNS full time next year. At least she has a chance to be competitive there on the tracks which are mostly 1.5 mile ovals and we get the benefit of watching some practice and all qualifying as well as the races with better coverage.

Comment by Reggie on June 4, 2011 at 3:33pm: This event is not at all about it being a oval or a road course, it's all about the people of Japan. The fact of the matter is, it will cost millions to repair the oval, and in the grand scheme of things it makes much more sense to focus on rebuilding that country than a racetrack. In all honesty, we are lucky there is going to be a race there at all, we are lucky that race course even exists. If people could stop complaining about the road course for a moment they would realize that this event provides something much more for the Japanese people, it provides them an opportunity (if only for a few days or hours) to escape the absolute horror of their lives over the past months and do something that the rest of the world takes for granted, and that is enjoy a race. This is giving those people the chance to enjoy something for a short while, as opposed to rebuilding their shattered lives and families, it will be a much needed escape for them and I for one, applaud IndyCar, Honda, the race course officials, and all involved for allowing the event to take place regardless of what type of course it is on.
