What current Indycar Series drivers will be still in the series when the new engine comes in 2012?

What current Indycar Series drivers do you guys think will be still in the series when the new engine comes in 2012. That is what Brian Barnhardt gut feeling says the new engine will be 2012.

Damon, I was thinking the same thing. GoDaddy is the registrar of literally MILLIONS of sites. Just because they are the registar, in no way means they are backing anything. This is made clear in the GoDaddy user agreement. Anyone can register a site on GoDaddy, however a site being hosted by GoDaddy in no way means that GoDaddy endorses the content of that site, they are simply providing the space for the site to exist. This is just an example of someone trying to stir the pot, Danica cannot legally speak to anyone about a contract in any other league until after she first negotiates with AGR, thats a provision in pretty much anyone's contract. She would not breach her contract with AGR and discuss a deal with F1 while still under AGR contract, there is simply too much for her to lose by doing that. That integrity issue would create a reputation that would follow her for the remainder of her career and cost her countless deals and sponsorships.

LOL........amazing that just using GoDaddy as the registrar of your site means they're going to back an F1 team?

Speaking of the future, lots of speculation about a new USA F1 team.

F1: United States Set For New F1 Team?
Written by: SPEED Staff / GMM 02/04/2009 - 06:44 PM
Charlotte, NC

A new Formula One team is under wraps in America and set to be launched officially later this month, according to several outlets on Wednesday.

The team, whose logo can be previewed at usf1.com, is fronted by F1 stalwart and broadcaster Peter Windsor, and American Ken Anderson, of Indycar and NASCAR fame but also former Ligier technical director.

Briton Windsor, 56, is best known today as the pitlane contributor for SPEED's Formula One broadcasts, but he has previously worked as team manager for both Ferrari and Williams, winning the world title with the latter in 1992.

The website of British magazine Autosport, along with the German website motorsport-total.com, said USF1 intends to make its Grand Prix debut in 2010, and already has the blessing of F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone.

The team will have the slogan 'Made in America' and be headquartered in the heart of NASCAR country in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Reportedly, an agreement to use the new Windshear wind tunnel in North Carolina is already in place, while USF1 intends to be a showcase for American technology and US-born drivers.

And then there's this rumor about USF1:

F1 Update: Go Daddy To Back U.S. Formula 1 Team With Danica Patrick ?

The PaddockTalk rumormongers are in high gear with the latest rumor of a Formula 1 team coming to America.

Here's an email straight from a 'monger who calls himself the 'The Factory'.

The new American F1 team is no joke!

Godaddy.com is the the registrar of the usf1.com domain. Clearly this is evidence that they are the main backer of the team.

Of course that makes it obvious who is going to drive one of the cars: Danica Patrick.

Rumour has it that godaddy.com is now embarking on a young driver search to find a geeky-looking driver to resemble the dude in their company logo. Oh and he should be fast too. I am fully denying that Maro Andretti was spotted in St. Petersburg this week trying major fake horn glasses on.

This team is a done deal!

Erik, you are correct it is just 3 more racing seasons until 2012, but if you look at the contracts of the current IRL drivers, more than 90% of those contracts expire within the next 3 years. Very rarely will an IRL driver sign a long term deal which is why we see so many drivers jumping from team to team (and league to league) so much. The vast majority of the contracts are actually season to season deals.

I Think most of the current top drivers will be in the series, it is just 3 more racing seasons before we write 2012.

This is who I think will be still in the Indycar Series in 2012.
Marco Andretti, Ryan Briscoe, Ed Carpenter, Scott Dixon, TK he will finish his contract with AGR & then go sports car racing, Vitor Meira, Hideki Mutoh, Will Power, Graham Rahal, Ryan Hunter-Reay & Dan Wheldon

This is who I think that former Indycar Series drivers will be driving in NASCAR or Sports Car either the ALMS or Grand Am in 2012.
Dario Franchitti, Bruno Junqueira, Darren Manning, Danica Patrick, Buddy Rice, Oriol Servia & Jusin Wilson.

You've got to watch out who you hit though, because some of them just don't care are more than willing to play bumper cars with you if you wreck them.

"...but I think that Briscoe would do very well."

Yeah, with a mandate to actually hit other cars, he should do very well indeed. I'm surprised that someone hasn't snatched up E.J. Viso yet.

There's a very interesting question Jeremy. The question did remind me of one of the film shorts currently on the home page at honda.com. It questions what mobility might be like in 2088.

Reggie,

You have a lot better insight on some of this than I do. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out over the next couple of seasons and fun to revisit your predictions at this point in 2012.

By the way, keep up the great work of overseeing this site.

I'm not sure about Dixon in NASCAR, but I think that Briscoe would do very well. Dixon is so good in IRL, he would be worth the gamble with running him for at least a season, if it doesn't work, he could always go back to Indy.
